This table is designed by India Foster with reclaimed oak. Oak is a keystone species that plays a crucial role: providing an abundance of food and shelter, sequestering massive amounts of carbon, stabilizing the soil, and improving the water shed. There are only twelve species of oak that grow in Florida, but they support a complex network of life, with more biodiversity present than any other species of tree. The top has a freeform circular shape and is sealed with natural wax and oil to heighten the lively grain, which contrasts elegantly against the brass through tenon. The heavy, solid brass leg grounds the table and allows the center to be slightly off, while still staying balanced.
